Brett Felton is a real American hero.
He is a 28-year old Iraq war veteran from Michigan who also happens to be a Christian and is now helping to train fledgling Christian militias in an effort to fend off the ISIS threat.
Brett is not in Iraq serving our nation, but serving the Christians of Iraq.
Our government even reached out to him after he was able to sneak away from his “study abroad” program and into Iraq, asking Felton not to fight and to return home as soon as possible.
But Felton chose to stay and to fight, anyway.

A shocking video posted to youtube Monday shows what life in a police state looks like. A family was on their way back from a doctor’s appointment when they drove through a checkpoint that was staffed by tyrants.
Rick Hebert was simply traveling through the checkpoint and lawfully refused to tell the agents where he was going. This checkpoint was well inside the US border on Highway 89 North.
At these constitutionally questionable checkpoints, you are not required to answer the agent’s questions (usually starting with “Are you a United States citizen?”). Nor can the agents require you to consent to any searches.
Apparently the agents at this checkpoint are unaware of the constitution.
This man simply asserts his rights and is subsequently assaulted and kidnapped in front of his 4-year-old son and wife. The video is horrifying.

The 5th Circuit Court of Appeals today denied the Obama Administration’s request for an expedited ruling on Judge Andrew Hanen’s injunction blocking President Obama’s executive amnesties.
Justice Department attorneys asked the court to rule within seven days but the court allowed the normal 10-day period for states to respond to the Administration’s request. Politico reports this could be an early sign that the 5th Circuit may not want to overturn Judge Hanen’s injunction quickly.

The House voted late Friday to stave off a shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security for another week, narrowly averting a funding lapse for the agency that has become the battleground over President Barack Obama’s executive actions on immigration.
The vote was 357-60. The Senate approved the stopgap measure earlier Friday evening and it was signed by Obama minutes before the midnight deadline when the department’s funding was to expire.
The 11th-hour move came after dozens of House Republicans dealt a humiliating defeat to Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and other GOP leaders. Conservatives teamed up with Democrats to shoot down a Boehner-backed measure that would have funded DHS for three weeks.

For over half a century America has struggled to improve race relations and progress is modest, at best. But optimism soldiers on although failure only seems to breed desperation. A recent New York Times article recounts the latest crackpot panacea. The article tells how wealthy white children enrolled in some of New York City’s toniest and expensive private schools are being detoxified of their poisonous white racism. The message is that these youngsters must develop “anti-racist thinking” as a skill, a competency necessary for the 21st century. It exaggerates only slightly to compare this process with Maoist self-criticism where people publicly confessed to crimes, many imaginary, and then admit remorse as the first step in “voluntarily” embracing the party line (see here).

His five-year study shows that immigration and ethnic diversity have a devastating short- and medium-term influence on the social capital, fabric of associations, trust, and neighborliness that create and sustain communities. He fears that his work on the surprisingly negative effects of diversity will become part of the immigration debate, even though he finds that in the long run, people do forge new communities and new ties.
