COOK COUNTY BOARD
 TO VOTE ON “SANCTUARY”
 FOR ILLEGALS

What: Cook County Board to vote again on “Sanctuary” for illegal aliens.
Where: Cook County Building – County Board Room, Room 569, 118 N. Clark Street, Chicago, 60602
When: Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at 10:00AM.
Why: The Board voted on June 5, 2007  to approve “sanctuary” for illegals. There is another faction forming on the Board to try to repeal this garbage. Click here to see the so-called resolution declaring Cook County a “Fair and Equal County for Immigrants.” Scroll down to ITEM #3. Please call your County Commissioner and tell them what you think of this resolution. To find your County Commissioner’s name and phone number click here. Look to see if your Commissioner is a sponsor of the Resolution. This will give you a lot of clues as to the nature of their character.


THE JUNE 5th VOTE ON SANCTUARY
 FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS

APPROVED

Commissioner Maldonado, seconded by Commissioner Moreno, moved that the Proposed Resolution be approved and adopted.  Commissioner Schneider called for a Roll Call, the vote of yeas and nays being as follows:

ROLL CALL ON THE MOTION TO APPROVE

Yeas: Claypool, Goslin, Maldonado, Moreno, Murphy, Quigley, Steele, Suffredin - 8.

Nays: Butler, Collins, Daley, Schneider, Silvestri - 5.

Present: Beavers, Peraica, Sims - 3.

Absent: Gorman - 1.

The motion to approve CARRIED and the Resolution was Approved and Adopted.

Minuteman Comment: We have a chance to defeat the euphemistically titled “Fair and Equal County For Immigrants.” First of all, Cook County is already fair and equal for immigrants. However, illegal aliens are not immigrants. What Maldonado, Moreno and Suffredin should have named this resolution is, “Fair and Equal County For Drug Dealers, Gangs, Murderers, Terrorists and Anti-Americans.” A title like this would be much closer to the true goals of the Pro-Illegal Faction of the Board. Nevertheless, based on the roll call listed above we know that the Pro-Illegal Faction consists of Claypool, Maldonado, Moreno, Murphy, Quigley, Steele and Suffredin. Gregg Goslin of the 14th District is a true patriot. He voted “yea” on June 5th as a parliamentary move in order to be able to bring the Resolution up again for “reconsideration.”
For tomorrow’s vote we can expect the following Commissioners to vote in opposition to Illegal Alien Sanctuary: Butler, Collins, Daley, Schneider, Silvestri, Gorman and Goslin. That gives the Patriotic Faction seven votes. The Pro-Illegal Faction will have seven votes. I am told by Pete Silvestri that we need a majority to win. That means we must pick up one more vote. I believe our best bet is to focus on Beavers, Peraica and Sims. Early morning phone calls to their offices might get the job done.

TALKING POINTS: Ask these Commissioners to vote in opposition to the “Fair and Equal County For Immigrants.” Explain to them that if this Resolution passes it would likely open up the County to lawsuits from the U.S. Attorney as well as other organizations.
