Secure America Now” Tour Update—January 28, 2006
Dear Friend,
Well, we are on the road again, flying to Atlanta tomorrow so we can
begin our day early Monday. I am really excited about this leg.
Unfortunately Congressman Tancredo is not going to be able to join us
because of the death of his Mom just a few days ago. But Team America
will be carrying the torch for him.
We have given up the Winnebago--for this leg at least. We need to move
faster and cheaper through the next few weeks if we are to reach as many
people as possible before the Senate vote. Don’t get me wrong—I loved
the Winnebago! It worked so well in Arizona and New Mexico, and our
Fort Worth friend who drove the first leg volunteered to do it again!
We even have a couple in Florida who offered to meet us in Atlanta and
drive us through the Carolinas, but we need to move quickly and a
smaller vehicle is the wiser choice.
The good news is that this week the Senate postponed the vote on an
immigration bill until March! That gives us another month to get the
word out that the Republicans in the Senate are planning on giving
amnesty to 15 million illegals! But it also gives the Chamber of
Commerce time to put together a media campaign to sell guest worker to
the public. But I know we can win this fight if we can reach enough
Americans and explain to them what is actually happening.
On Monday and Tuesday I will be meeting with activists in Georgia, South
Carolina, and North Carolina. In addition I have 8 hours of radio
interviews scheduled That’s right 8 hours in two days. I suspect I am
going to lose my voice again! (Tom and I were both without much of a
voice at the end of leg #1.) But imagine how many we are people we are
going to reach in just two days!
And when I return to my office later this week there is more radio. We
can get the message out through radio all week long—now that people have
heard about the Tour we are getting requests to be on radio programs
from everywhere.
The Tour is just taking off. People from all over the country are
asking how they can help. Some are calling with the name of popular
radio talk shows in their states, others are trying to put together
meetings or rallies in their communities, others are volunteering
vehicles, signs, or food, and hundreds have supported us with
contributions, kind words, and prayers.
Friend, we can do this. Americans are opposed to amnesty, and
understand that amnesty will only bring millions and millions more
illegal aliens into this country. What we need to make certain they
understand is that every guest worker program in the history of our
country, as well as those in all other countries, has become amnesty
program. There are no exceptions!!
And then we must tell them to get on the phones and express their
outrage and you need to do the same.
Let me tell you what just happened in Massachusetts. The state
legislature was prepared to pass instate tuition for illegal aliens
living in that state. The only hope of stopping it was if the bill
didn’t pass with a veto proof margin. Governor Romney had let it be
known he would veto any such bill. Understand that the legislative body
is made up of 160 legislators and only 20 are Republicans. There was
little hope of stopping this bill.
But then radio talk show hosts took up the issue, especially Boston’s
Howie Carr. When the people heard what the legislators were about to do
they were outraged. So they called and e-mailed their representatives
and minced no words. They were angry and let the legislators know it.
Result: the bill went down 96 to 57!
Friend, if the people of Massachusetts can do it, so can we! Please
keep telling everyone you know about what the Republican Senate is
planning—and tell them to call and write and fax this message: NO
AMNESTY, NO GUEST WORKER. We want an enforcement only bill and we want
it now!
One last point before I turn in. Congressman Sensenbrenner said this
week that the President’s guest worker bill is just amnesty! He
understands perfectly. He added that any guest worker plan that gives
legal status to anyone now here illegally is amnesty and the voters in
this country will not accept it. This is such good news because if the
Senate passes a guest worker bill it will go to conference and
Congressman Sensenbrenner will be the Chairman of the House delegation
at that conference!
Keep spreading the message and please get on the phones and tell
everyone you know to do the same!
I’ll let you know how leg #2 of “Secure America Now” goes when I return.
Thanks again for all your support,
Bay Buchanan
PS I am still hoping to go through Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana and
possibly Michigan on leg #3 and then take the Tour to Oklahoma and
Texas. If you think you can help put together something in your area
let me know.
