JOB DESTRUCTION NEWSLETTER, Thursday, October 13, 2005
Karl Rove has been having closed-door sessions with Congress in order to push a new guest-worker program. Supposedly the details of the proposal were given out to those that attended, but I have yet to see details posted on a website.  Apparently the Bush administration doesn't think the public needs to know anything about their guest worker proposal until Congress passes it.  Reference

Article: Churches Criminally 'Aid and Abet' Illegal Aliens
.....Why do religious institutions, like the Catholic Church, and others, defy our immigration laws? Why do they flaunt our laws, by enabling millions upon millions of illegal aliens to enter, reside and work in America? Do they do so in order to 'feel good' about what they see as their 'Christian duty'? Why do pious people of the Christian faith believe it is okay for them to disobey our laws, which were created to protect and defend our country and its populous? Do they feel that they are above the law? By their example, does that mean that it is okay the rest of us to disobey other laws, as we chose? As you will find below, they DO believe that they are ABOVE AND BEYOND THE LAW! ...... by Daneen G. Peterson, Ph.D.
Religious communities offer shelter to the homeless
The Journal News Thu, 13 Oct 2005 5:26 AM PDT
Religious congregations in northern Westchester County will open their doors to the homeless next month, renewing a rotating-shelter program begun during last winter's snowstorms. In Rockland, a similar program will start again in December.  "Everyone is out there for a different reason," said Chris Murray, a Helping Hands social worker who tries to link people with such services as food stamps and Medicaid. Some are wary of the system. Some can't comply with rules or have problems with addiction, and some are ineligible because they are undocumented immigrants.   About half of those who sought shelter in Rockland and three-quarters of the homeless in northern Westchester were immigrant day laborers, organizers said.

Immigration reform not an easy fix

Immigration reform is like a puzzle with five extraordinarily difficult pieces to fit. The first is the scope of the problem: What does the U.S. do with the estimated 11 million illegal immigrants already here, assuming we are not going to put them in freight trains and run them out of the country?

LETTERS: Dave in MO writes:
Good morning: since I am wound up on another issue, I would like to again ask the Minutemen to do 'one more' thing for America. I spent some time on the Mexican border with the Border Service, as an AGGIE. USDA-APHIS-PPQ. Quarantine Officer, one thing I have often mentioned and it bears repeating, is that I encourage, the Minutemen to pick up refuge / garbage found along the border and to take it to the local Aggie offices. The illegals carry in huge amounts of food items, often the cheapest they can find or pick up along the way. These carry diseases and pests which can devastate our agriculture. They also smuggle in parrots, these are protected in Mexico and dozens die in the efforts to catch a few young ones to smuggle in. These birds can be worth thousands of dollars and are sold to finance a trip. There is a high mortality rate with the birds and the dead ones are left along the trail. Also take pictures and post on the web of the destruction the crossers leave in their wake. There are tens of thousands of elderly who donate money to organizations like BAN who believe they are helping honest people find work and feeding hungry children. They NEED to see the carnage left behind and the total lack of respect the crossers have for our border residents and us all. The public needs to know how "Charities" use the money to assist the crossers at our expense and peril. Lincoln said the public has a ten day attention span, I believe he was being generous! I believe it is necessary to mix up the plays to keep scoring in any game,, and this game is one we can not afford to lose. BTIMO.
