Subject: Fax Senators to ban licenses

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To all immigration reduction supporters:
This is a shortened version of Roy's follow up after the House passed the driver's license bill. Clearly, he is quite enthusiastic.
I am forwarding this to the addresses on my immigration alert list so you will know what is happening even if you are not a member of
NumbersUSA.  As long as you are not a member, you will probably only call, but faxing with the NumbersUSA method is convenient and  effective; it is best to do both.  Kindly peruse http://www.numbersusa.com/ and become one of our caller and faxer activists.

Dear FRIENDS of immigration reductions,

What a day we had yesterday! I promised you more followup to the victories we won in the House's banning of driver's licenses for illegal aliens and in other measures against illegal immigration.

Before I give you more analysis of yesterday’s actions, though, I want to give you some important opportunities for action to move yesterday’s success in the House into success in the Senate and on to getting this signed into law.

FAX YOUR SENATORS FOR THEIR SUPPORT

Most of the quotes in the media from Senators have shown them to consider themselves too sophisticated to pass something like their “inferior” House colleagues approved yesterday and, thus, that they are unlikely to pass a bill that bans driver’s licenses for illegal aliens.

Some of the Senators are saying they won’t deal with a ban unless they also can attach some kind of amnesty or massive new guestworker program.

Other Senators just indicate that the House has taken too crude of an approach and they want to put off any immigration issues until later in the year.

Fortunately, we are also seeing support for the license ban from a few Senators who previously have never been outspoken on our side.

The good news is that we do not have to win in the Senate to get the ban into law. The House will be attaching the ban next week to a must-pass appropriations bill. If the Senate does not include the ban when it passes the same appropriations bill, a joint Conference Committee will negotiate between the two bills, and we are hopeful that the ban will emerge in the final product.

Still, to increase the odds of victory in the joint Conference Committee, we need to have as high a level of support in the Senate as possible.

I cannot over-emphasize how important it is for every single one of you to send your faxes to your Senators this very minute – and then come back and finish reading this email.

(Or call, if you are not a faxer.)

The reason the House voted so well yesterday was because of the incredible pounding the tens of thousands of you all have given the Representatives over the last few years.

Because the Senate has rarely allowed even a debate on immigration issues, you haven’t had the opportunity to pound the Senators with such specificity in the past. Senators somehow feel they are above the fray on the immigration issue. Together, we must change any feeling of complacency these Senators feel.

Starting today, we must have an unrelenting barrage of constituency pressure on Senators to listen to the people more than the special interest lobbyists that make the giant campaign contributions. It CAN be done.

"God bless you, NumbersUSA."
