At the moment of his coronation for Vice Presidential nominee of the Democratic party of the United States at its recent convention, John Edwards gave a rousing speech with an ending to each of his points, “It doesn’t have to be that way.”
Unfortunately, John Edwards "it doesn't have to be that way" speech neglected critical problems facing this nation:
Last week, Glenn Spencer, a 60 year old, crossed over the border into Mexico and brought back a simulated weapon of mass destruction in a case. He was untouched by border patrol and he used a well-known route! He slogged through desert country over six miles to a main highway and was picked up by a van and taken to Phoenix where he walked up the capitol steps with the simulated WMD and was only asked for his ID and what was he doing there? He was never asked what was in the pack, which was marked as a WMD. It could have been a bio-terror weapon or chemical weapon. What he exposed was how porous our borders are to terrorists. He showed Tom Ridge to be the standing joke among terrorists entering our country. Mr. Edwards might have said, “Terrorists enter the United States through our porous borders...it doesn't have to be that way."
As illegal immigration overwhelms city after city in the United States, isn’t it about time that our elected officials act on the latest polls like the Roper and Zogby Polls that register 80% of Americans want illegal immigration stopped and legal immigration sharply reduced because they are doing so much damage to middle America? “It doesn't have to be that way." This month, Border Patrol agents started doing their jobs by enforcing inland sweeps for illegal aliens. Asa Hutchinon of Homeland Security has stopped the border sweeps because illegal alien advocates protested that we stop enforcing our laws. Mr. Edwards might have said, “It doesn't have to be that way."
America has lost faith in our elected officials because they do not represent the Constitution and are out of touch with the American people. Edwards could have said, “It doesn't have to be that way."
The federal debt exceeds $7.1 trillion and consumer debt stands at $2 trillion. The average American credit card has an $8,000.00 balance. Immigration is costing Americans billions in lost jobs and loss of taxes. Look at California at $38 billion in debt and Texas at $10 billion in debt and all other states in a serious financial crisis driven by illegal immigration. Well, Mr. Edwards, “It doesn't have to be that way."
Big business corporations reap significant monetary benefits by employing illegal aliens because of greed and treason. A few men at the top crush Middle America at the bottom. Mr. Edwards, “It doesn't have to be that way."
Last year, 77 Border State hospitals were bankrupting because thousands of illegal aliens used our services without paying. Anchor babies by the thousands broke all records for welfare use. Congress paid $1.4 billion to bail them out with our money. It’s unfair, illegal and takes medical care away from Americans. Our hospitals are closing because we offer free medical care to illegal aliens Mr. Edwards. “It doesn't have to be that way."
Annually, $100 billion in lethal drugs are being transported daily across our borders and sold to our children. The addiction, death and suffering caused by those drugs are attributed to an open, porous and deadly border. Mr. Edwards, “It doesn't have to be that way"
Two million California elementary and high school students go to classes in trailers because the immigrant invasion ousted American kids from their classrooms. It costs California $2.2 billion annually for illegal alien kids K-12. The c |
