The impetus behind it is excessive federal power, which over the past half-century under both parties and all presidents has grown far more intrusive and extensive than ever before, operating at a greater geographical reach and economic might than we have ever know, and intruding itself in more areas of life, upon more people, in more places, than it has ever done.

And this flagrant power has two inherent and irreparable flaws that make it exceedingly noxious and oppressive: It is so overreaching that it is incompetent and inefficient, and it is so corrupt that it is clandestine and uncontrollable

I am leaning towards supporting the Lamar Smith Mandatory E-verify Bill for the following reasons but still on the fence.

By not allowing the states to enforce E-Verify it "leaves the states at the mercy of Big Brother for their internal defense, and that is a huge problem. The right of self-defense is a core aspect of sovereignty. If the states no longer have it, they are no longer sovereign, meaning the foundational assumption of our constitutional system no longer obtains."

Conclusion ; The states haven't had states rights and sovereignty for a very long time so we are not losing anything we had.

When it's said that the Immigration system in the US is broken it's never mention that it's broken because we have little or no enforcement. So if you make the arguement that the madatory program will not be enforced, there's really no change. We have no enforcement now. Probably won't have E-Verify enforcement if the bill is passed.
Non-enforcement of E-Verify might back fire on the open border Federal Government if in fact they don't enforce.

To answer the question that E-Verify does not apply to current employers and thus it is a form of Amnesty is correct. In fact we have a de-facto Amnesty currently since there is no immigration enforcement. It seems in this bill they will be increasing the SS fraud and no match SS programs. If they really do that it's moving in the right directions. Either way with or without this bill the 14th amendment is working against us.

Not to digress but unless the 14th amendment is correctly interpreted and birth tourism eliminated the end game will eventually go to the open border alliance and their minions. And the successful invasion of the US will have been accomlished.

For over 40 years the left has been beating us down inch by inch.

If you think were getting an inch maybe the bill should be supported.

Senate Democrats revive immigration reform
 Top Senate Democrats launched on Wednesday another bid to pass a comprehensive immigration reform they say will enhance U.S. economic productivity and national security even as it provides a path to legalization for 11 million undocumented immigrants.

Sens. Bob Menendez of New Jersey, Dick Durbin of Illinois and Patrick Leahy of Vermont held a Capitol Hill press conference to present a measure similar to one that was defeated in 2007.

The new bill includes elements to bolster border security - as demanded by Republicans - and to discourage firms from hiring undocumented workers, while establishing strict criteria for the legalization of immigrants who entered the United States without authorization.

To be eligible, an immigrant must have arrived in the country prior to June 1, 2011, have no criminal record, register with the government and pay a fine, be current with tax payments and learn English.

Menendez suggested that undocumented migrants who fail to register with authorities or who don't meet the eligibility criteria would face deportation.

An intensive investigation has revealed the identity of the man whose Social Security number (SSN) is being used by  Barry Obama is   Jean Paul Ludwig.
Ludwig was born in France in 1890, he then emigrated to the United States in 1924, and was assigned SSN 042-68-4425 (Barry's current SSN) sometime in the March 1977 timeframe.
Ludwig lived most of his adult life in Connecticut.  Because of that, his SSN begins with the digits 042, which are the first three digits reserved for Connecticut residents.  Each State uses the first three digits to identify their residents.

Federal Blockade: TSA Holds Texas Flights Hostage
An astounding Department of Justice threat to cancel airline flights to and from Texas, in addition to underhanded lobbying by TSA representatives, has killed efforts in the state to pass HB 1937, a bill that would have made invasive pat downs by TSA agents a felony.

HB 1937, a bill that would have made it “A criminal act for security personnel to touch a person’s private areas without probable cause as a condition of travel or as a condition of entry into a public place,” was headed for an imminent Senate vote in Texas having already passed the House unanimously 138-0, before the federal government stepped in to nix the legislation.

In a letter sent to Texas lawmakers, including to Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, Speaker Joe Straus, the House Clerk, and the Senate Secretary, U.S. Attorney John E. Murphy threatened to cripple the airline industry in the state if legislators did not back down.

“If HR [sic] 1937 were enacted, the federal government would likely seek an emergency stay of the statute,” Murphy wrote. “Unless or until such a stay were granted, TSA would likely be required to cancel any flight or series of flights for which it could not ensure the safety of passengers and crew.”

“We urge that you consider the ramifications of this bill before casting your vote,” Murphy added.

PHOENIX — Arizona U.S. Sens. John McCain and Jon Kyl have introduced legislation that would mandate 6,000 troops on the Mexican border, 5,000 more Border Patrol agents by 2016 and hundreds of millions in additional spending.
A version of the bill was also introduced in the House by Rep. Jeff Flake. It would spend $4 billion taken from previously unspent federal appropriations but spare funds given to the military and Veterans Affairs and for nuclear weapons.
The bill introduced on Wednesday would also add spending for the prosecution of illegal immigrants and boost funding to local law enforcement agencies along the border. More fencing would be built, more manned and unmanned aircraft deployed and communications equipment updated.

Secure Communities program starts up in 7 Michigan Counties
ICE is stepping up its arrest of sexual offenders and other criminals among illegal aliens currently in Michigan, too.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) today began using the Secure Communities program this week in seven Michigan counties including Allegan, Barry, Calhoun, Jackson, Kalamazoo, Muskegon, Muskegon and Ottawa to help federal immigration officials identify criminal aliens in state prisons and local jails by running their fingerprints against federal immigration databases when they are booked into the system.

AUSTIN,TX — Business interests, including small contractors and GOP stalwarts, have raised concerns that could derail proposals to fine or lock up employers who hire illegal immigrants, Rep. Byron Cook, chairman of a top House committee, said Thursday.

Delegate seeks illegal immigrant tuition lawsuit
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — A state lawmaker said Thursday that Maryland has become a haven for illegal immigrants, and he plans to go to federal court to change that.
 Delegate Patrick McDonough, R-Baltimore County, said he is consulting with two national legal foundations to overturn legislation passed this week that would grant illegal immigrants in-state tuition rates at Maryland's public universities. He has not decided yet whether he will file one or multiple lawsuits, but expects they will be filed in federal court.
