Apparently Barack Obama is not content to make a federal case out of his immigration feud with Arizona; he just made it an international one.

The president’s first-ever report on U.S. human rights to the UN Human Rights Council contains a rich vein of offensive material. So far, one aspect has not been reported: our petty president used the situation to bash Arizona’s immigration law — and possibly transfer jurisdiction over the law from Arizona to the UN. Throughout the report, which sounds like an Obama campaign speech, the president discusses “the original flaw” of the U.S. Constitution, America’s tolerance for slavery, and his version of our long and despicable history of discriminating against and oppressing minorities, women, homosexuals, and the handicapped. After each complaint, he addresses how he is delivering us from ourselves, patting himself on the back for such initiatives as ending “torture,” promoting Affirmative Action, and passing health care legislation.

Having lived in Europe as a student for most of a year, and traveled there many times since, I have some small basis for identifying the changes that have occurred in recent decades.

Back in the day, the Switzerland, France, and Germany where I spent my time as a youth were generally homogenous and possessed of a distinct native charm. In the case of Switzerland and Germany, there was also an almost sterile tidiness.

Today, it seems to me that Europe’s tolerance for multiculturalism – a tolerance fostered by political correctness, proximity and the contagion of operating foreign empires – has allowed those cultures to blossom in the European garden. The politically correct might say that the new and more diverse garden possesses a beauty of its own. From my unedited perspective, however, the garden looks a mess.

Border states commit 54,000 troops to Iraq, Afghanistan…get 1,200 from feds
The number of troops being sent to the expansive, and incredibly dangerous border amounts to .6 soldiers for every mile of the border, this combined with the questionable rules of engagement under which they will be serving, the deployment is nothing more than a pitiable, political gesture from the White House.
While the 1,200 troops will reportedly be armed, they may only use their weapons for self-defense.

The Mexican border could and should be made a permanent duty station for U.S. troops. This would allow the Border Patrol to fully staff the official entry points, which would dramatically reduce the amount of drugs as well as the number of criminals coming into this country through those checkpoints on a daily basis.

Of course, we have the resources to defend this nation, we need only the political will to do so.

DETROIT – States have the authority to enforce immigration laws and protect their borders, Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox said Wednesday in a legal brief on behalf of nine states supporting Arizona's immigration law.

On Monday, Summerville, SC councilman Walter Bailey proposed an ordinance which will require anyone renting a home to state whether or not they are in the country legally. Bailey received support for the measure from another member of the council, during a committee meeting.

‘Undeclared War’ on Mexican Border Greater Challenge than Afghanistan, Congressmen Say

The violence along the U.S.-Mexico border is the biggest threat to the nation’s security, members of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security said at  back-to-back hearings on Tuesday.
 
Rep. John Culberson (R-Texas) thanked the witnesses, including David Aguilar, chief of the U.S. Border Patrol, for their service in an “undeclared war.”
 
“I can’t tell you how much I appreciate what all of you do,” Culberson said. “You truly are in our prayers on a daily basis.”
 
“You’re on the front lines of an undeclared war unlike any we’ve ever seen on the southern border probably since 1916,” Culberson said, referring to Brig. Gen. John J. Pershing's expedition into Mexico with 10,000 troops in an effort to capture the infamous revolutionary Pancho Villa after Villa had conducted attacks inside the United States.

Obama's national suicide via amnesty
In a speech on Thursday at American University in Washington, D.C., President Obama announced plans to enroll 15 million new Democrat voters by the year 2016 by way of an amnesty for illegal aliens. Then he denounced Republicans for blocking a "bipartisan approach" to that legislation.
Obama's problem is that over 75 percent of Americans want to see genuine border security as a precondition for even discussing amnesty legislation. Yet Obama and the Democratic majorities in the House and Senate are again trying the old bait-and-switch trick, which worked so well in 1986. They want Americans to accept a new amnesty as part of a "comprehensive plan" that includes a promise of border security somewhere down the road.

Americans are not buying it. Citizens want to see the border secured now, not as part of some dishonest deal for amnesty. And that, Mr. President, is a true bipartisan consensus.

Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics agents said they arrested a suspected Mexican drug cartel leader during a raid this morning.
Undercover agents became aware of their main suspect three months ago, after Arizona passed Senate Bill 1070 — the new immigration law that allows police to search anyone for valid documentation of citizenship.
"Our target received a dispatch from Mexico, and was told to leave Phoenix because of the new immigration law," said an undercover case agent whose name is being withheld to protect his identity. "He was told to set up shop in Oklahoma City. Fortunately, in a very short time, we learned of his presence and were able to infiltrate his operation
