Dear Friend:
Chris Smith has been in Congress for THIRTY YEARS and has continued to get more and more liberal the longer he serves.
In the 1980s, he often opposed President Reagan’s efforts to cut spending and turn our nation around from Socialism.
In the 1990s, he fought efforts to cut welfare entitlements -- and was the only House Republican to vote against the 1996 Welfare Reform bill.
And in the 2000s, he’s moved even farther to the left. The American Conservative Union gave Smith a score of just 28 percent – the lowest of any House Republican.
Now with Barack Obama in the White House, Smith’s gotten even worse. He sided with Democrats to renew the S-CHIP government health care program for children and, in the ultimate betrayal, was one of just eight Republicans to vote for and help pass Barack Obama’s “Cap and Trade” Energy Tax scam.
A solid vote for virtually anything the AFL-CIO wants, Chris Smith is a sponsor of the dangerous “Card Check” bill that would replace secret union elections with a requirement that a majority of employees sign union cards -- a bill that would allow union thugs to bully workers into forming a union.
Chris Smith has been too liberal for too long, and it’s time for a change in Congress.

People think Chris Smith is a conservative because of his longstanding advocacy for pro-Life causes. But that’s the only issue Chris is conservative. On everything else he’s a complete liberal, with a voting record far to the left of many Democrats.
Chris Smith’s been in office for Thirty Years. It’s time for a change.
That’s why I’m supporting Alan Bateman. Alan has courageously stepped up to the plate and is running against Chris Smith in this heavily Republican district, where the GOP nomination is virtually tantamount to election.
He’ll be running in the June 8th Republican Primary, the election that will determine who represents Ocean, Monmouth, Burlington and Mercer Counties in Congress. And I’ll be joining Alan for a fundraiser on March 20th to help him win.

Alan is a conservative leader who stands tall for what you and I believe in: smaller government, lower taxes and strong opposition to Barack Obama’s plans to Socialize America.
Unlike Smith, Alan is a strong supporter of your Constitutional Right to Keep and Bear Arms. Smith is a longtime backer of new gun control laws whose anti-Gun record is so solid he was one of the few “Republicans” in Congress to be endorsed by Sarah Brady and her group, Handgun Control.
Like Chris Smith, Alan is pro-Life and will fight to protect the unborn in Congress. But that’s where the similarities end.
Alan was a strong supporter of my campaign for Governor and I am proud to support him for Congress -- and I’m backing up my support with a personal contribution to his campaign. I’m writing you today to ask you to join me with a strong financial commitment to help Alan win this election.

Like me, Alan has his roots in local government, defeating a team of entrenched liberal Democrats to win election to the council and moving up the ladder to Deputy Mayor.
A solid conservative, Alan stopped the cycle of runaway tax increases by cutting spending and standing up to public employee unions. He has what it takes to win this election and give New Jersey another solid conservative voice in the mold of my friend Scott Garrett.
Too often Chris Smith cancels out Scott Garrett’s vote for lower taxes and less government. With Alan Bateman in Congress, Scott Garrett’s vote will be doubled, rather than cancelled.
That’s what this election is all about.
ALAN BATEMAN WILL BE THE CONSERVATIVE LEADER MONMOUTH, OCEAN, BURLINGTON AND MERCER COUNTIES NEED IN CONGRESS AND HE NEEDS YOUR HELP. CLICK HERE TO HELP HIM WIN!
It’s tough for conservatives to raise money against entrenched liberal “RINO” (Republican In Name Only) incumbents. That’s why I’m asking you to make a significant financial commitment to help Alan win. I’m counting on you to be there with me on March 20th in support of Alan’s campaign (if you can’t make it, please send a donation anyway). CLICK HERE to attend. I’ll see you on March 20.
On to victory! |
