HERE IS WHAT WE ARE UP AGAINST TO STOP THE AMNESTY IN THE SENATE

DEAR AMNESTY OPPONENTS,

One of our members called this morning wanting the list of Senators in the 'amnesty bubble' -- those who are most susceptible to changing their action on the potential amnesty vote in early 2010.

Those of us who made it to the office in the middle of the DC blizzard shutdown today came up with lists of one-third of the U.S. Senators where your pressure could be the most influential and crucial.

See the names of the 38 targeted Senators here.

As yet, no bill has been introduced in the Senate, but here are links about the amnesty bill that was introduced in the U.S. House last week:
Joe Jenkins' blog.
Section-by-Section analysis of the bill.

PRO-AMNESTY SENATORS FELL 14 VOTES SHORT IN 2007

Let's start with the fact that the U.S. Senate on June 28, 2007 voted 46-53 on a cloture motion to end the filibuster on the Bush/Kennedy amnesty.

That means massive constituency pressure achieved a majority vote (53) for our side during a time of low unemployment (but of stagnant wages for most working-class Americans).

It also means that the pro-amnesty Senators were 14 votes short of the 60 needed to stop the filibuster and allow a vote to pass the amnesty.

Those of us fighting to protect the economic interests of 15 million jobless Americans must concentrate on keeping the pro-amnesty forces from adding 14 more votes.

'BUBBLE SENATORS' WHO COULD CLOSE
THE 14-VOTE GAP AND PASS AN AMNESTY
  • 15 Democrats defied their Party leadership in 2007 and voted AGAINST the amnesty.

How many of them will again courageously stand for American workers and how many will switch sides in favor of illegal foreign workers and the outlaw businesses that hire them? If all 15 follow their Party leaders and turn against us (and nothing else changes), the amnesty would pass.

See the list of 15 here.

  • 7 Democrats since the 2007 vote have replaced 7 Republicans who voted AGAINST the amnesty.

Will they come to see that the voters of their state expect their Senators -- regardless of Party affiliation -- to continue to oppose amnesty ? Or will they feel that their higher loyalty is to the Democratic Party leaders and their desire for millions more legal workers to compete against unemployed Americans?

See the list of 7 here.

  • 1 Democrat who was up for re-election in 2007 didn't vote because of illness.

His state is solidly against the amnesty, but he usually goes with the Party leadership and doesn't face re-election for five more years.

    See him here.
A CHANCE TO PICK UP VOTES
AGAINST AMNESTY FROM THESE 'BUBBLE SENATORS'
  • 7 Republicans who followed Pres. Bush and voted FOR the amnesty in 2007 remain in office.

Now that there are no Party leaders strong-arming FOR the amnesty, will some of these 7 Republicans rejoin the rest of their Party and oppose it?

See the list of 7 here.

  • 4 new Republican Senators have replaced Republican Senators who voted FOR the amnesty in 2007.

What is the chance of moving those votes over into the AGAINST column?

See the list of 4 here.

  • 2 of the Democrats who voted FOR the amnesty in 2007 have been replaced by new Democrats who are facing contested elections next fall.

Can they come to feel that opposing an amnesty would be a better re-election strategy?

  • 2 other Democrats who voted FOR the amnesty in 2007 are up for re-election next fall and behind in the polls.

Can the voters in their states persuade them that approving an amnesty would be bad for their chances of staying in the Senate?
NET ADVANTAGE? THE PEOPLE HOLD THE POWER

In the big struggle over whether the pro-amnesty forces can gain a net of 14 votes, the victory is the people's to lose.

But if the people sit back and expect that these 38 Senators will primarily just do the right thing, an amnesty will pass. Tens of millions of dollars of contributions to the Senators and to pro-amnesty lobbyists ensure that the amnesty will pass without massive public opposition.

With a concerted and steady public engagement with these 38 Senators, I don't see how we can fail. Then, the math works in our favor.

Be sure to read my blog today for all the names and further analysis on all of them.

For those of you who are looking for a way to start fighting now (even before the holidays are over), I wanted to get to you the most important names right away.

Over the next couple of weeks we will begin to offer you specific faxes, phone notes and event notes to help you magnify constituent pressure on these Senators.

If you are ready to start calling their DC offices now, here's the number:

202-224-3121

Senators In The AMNESTY BUBBLE Who Need Special Attention

By Roy Beck, Monday, December 21, 2009, 2:31 PM EST - posted on NumbersUSA

One of our members called this morning wanting the list of Senators in the 'amnesty bubble' -- those who are most susceptible to changing their action on the potential amnesty vote in early 2010. Those of us who made it to the office in the middle of the DC blizzard shutdown today came up with this list of one-third of the U.S. Senators.

Below are the one of every three Senators where your pressure could be the most influential and crucial.

If you are wondering where your phone calls and other efforts are the most important in keeping the giant amnesty bill from coming to a vote, these are your lists.

Although most Senators are not running for re-election next year and are expected to be relatively immune from constituents asking them to deviate from what their Party leaders ask them to do, most of the people in the groups listed below are being pulled in both directions and are most open to your input.

'BUBBLE SENATORS' WHO COULD CLOSE THE 14-VOTE GAP AND PASS AN AMNESTY

Here are 23 votes the amnesty did NOT get last time that could switch in 2010.

15 Democrats defied their Party leadership in 2007 and voted AGAINST the amnesty. How many of them will again courageously stand for American workers and how many will switch sides in favor of illegal foreign workers and the outlaw businesses that hire them? If all 15 follow their Party leaders and turn against us (and nothing else changes), the amnesty would pass.
7 Democrats since the 2007 vote have replaced 7 Republicans who voted AGAINST the amnesty. Will they come to see that the voters of their state expect their Senators -- regardless of Party affiliation -- to continue to oppose amnesty ? Or will they feel that their higher loyalty is to the Democratic Party leaders and their desire for millions more legal workers to compete against unemployed Americans?
1 Democrat who was up for re-election in 2007 didn't vote because of illness. His state is solidly against the amnesty, but he usually goes with the Party leadership and doesn't face re-election for five more years.
A CHANCE TO PICK UP VOTES AGAINST AMNESTY FROM THESE 'BUBBLE SENATORS'

Here are 15 votes that the amnesty got last time which possibly could be turned into a NO vote in 2010.

7 Republicans who followed Pres. Bush and voted FOR the amnesty in 2007 remain in office. Now that there are no Party leaders strong-arming FOR the amnesty, will some of these 7 Republicans rejoin the rest of their Party and oppose it?
4 new Republican Senators have replaced Republican Senators who voted FOR the amnesty in 2007. What is the chance of moving those votes over into the AGAINST column?
2 of the Democrats who voted FOR the amnesty in 2007 have been replaced by new Democrats who are facing contested elections next fall. Can they come to feel that opposing an amnesty would be a better re-election strategy?
2 other Democrats who voted FOR the amnesty in 2007 are up for re-election next fall and behind in the polls. Can the voters in their states persuade them that approving an amnesty would be bad for their chances of staying in the Senate.
NOW, THE NAMES

15 courageous Democrats who stood against their Party & Amnesty and FOR American Workers in 2007

We desperately have to hold the majority of these on our side.

Baucus (Mont.)
Bayh (Ind.)
Bingaman (New Mexico)
Brown (Ohio)
Byrd (W.Va.)
Dorgan (North Dakota)
Harkin (Iowa)
Landrieu (La.)
McCaskill (Mo.)
Nelson (Neb.)
Pryor (Ark.)
Rockefeller (W.Va.)
Stabenow (Mich.)
Tester (Mont.)
Webb (Va.)
Many of those 15 were facing re-election bids in 2008 and were most interested in how strongly the voters in their states felt about amnesty.

But in 2010, only Bayh and Dorgan of these 15 are facing an election. Voters have far less leverage on them this year. (And most of the Democrats who ARE up for re-election voted YES on amnesty and are considered in safe seats.)

Still, if these 15 Democrats were willing to oppose an amnesty and an increase in future authorized workers in 2007 during a time of low unemployment, shouldn't they feel even more pressure to stick with that position during 10% unemployment?

Only if people like you keep reminding them!

How many of these 15 can we keep on our side? The answer will be almost entirely up to constituent pressure.

7 Democrats who since the 2007 vote have replaced 7 Republicans who voted AGAINST the amnesty

We seriously need to pick up at least 3 of these.

Begich (Alaska) -- defeated Stevens (R)
Franken (Minn.) -- defeated Coleman (R)
Hagan (N.C.) -- defeated Dole (R)
Merkley (Ore.) -- defeated Smith (R)
Shaheen (N.H.) -- defeated Sununu (R)
Udall (Colo.) -- replaced Allard (R) who retired
Mark Warner (Va.) -- replaced John Warner (R) who retired
The pro-amnesty groups did a lot of crowing over the last year about the fact that these 7 anti-amnesty Republican Senators were replaced by 7 Democrats who presumably were pro-amnesty.

There is no question that these 7 show strong interest in toeing the Democratic leadership line on helping some 8 million illegal aliens keep their jobs permanently and to increase the future flow of new authorized foreign workers, while weakening enforcement against illegal immigration.

You can be sure, though, that none of these campaigned openly on that platform.

Can you imagine a candidate standing in front of home-state crowds and saying that illegal aliens should have priority for local jobs over unemployed voters of the state?

And with unemployment likely to remain near 10% at the time of next November's election, all of these Senators could be helped by voters over the next few months to at least acknowledge that this is not the time for the comprehensive amnesty bill.

But it will take an incredible amount of constituent pressure to persuade these 7 that their interests lie on the side of unemployed Americans and not with the illegal foreign workers.

Only Udall (who came from the House) has any real sense how hot the fury from the electorate can be if they promote more foreign workers and an amnesty for illegal aliens. It is time they start feeling it.

1 Democrat was up for re-election in 2007 and didn't vote because of illness

Can we keep him from putting his vote on the wrong side?

Johnson (South Dakota)
His state is solidly against the amnesty, but he usually goes with the Party leadership and doesn't face re-election for five more years. Unless the people of South Dakota make this personal with the Senator, he will gladly become one of the 14 new votes needed to pass the amnesty.

7 Republicans who followed Pres. Bush and voted FOR the amnesty in 2007 are still in office

With enough constituency pressure, we could bring all 7 of these over to our side of the vote.

Bennett (Utah)
Gregg (N.H.)
Graham (S.C.)
Kyl (Ariz.)
Lugar (Ind.)
McCain (Ariz.)
Snowe (Maine)
Two of these are up for re-election:

Bennett faces intense opposition in next spring's Republican state convention, in part because of his pro-amnesty support of the past.

If McCain shows a strong amnesty position again, he is susceptible to an embarrassing Primary challenge, also.

Kyl used to be one of our best anti-mass-immigration allies but was strong-armed by Pres. Bush to come up with a compromise to gain passage of his amnesty. This seems like an excellent time for Kyl to return to his anti-amnesty friends. Snowe and Gregg show signs of Reid-fatigue and may not want to help the Senate Majority Leader push through his amnesty.

Only Lugar and Graham of these 7 seem hell-bent on helping the U.S. Chamber of Commerce keep labor markets as loose as possible in order to hold down all wages.

4 new Republican Senators have replaced Republican Senators who voted FOR the amnesty in 2007

It would be inexcusable not to pick up the votes of all 4 of these AGAINST amnesty.

Johanns (Neb.) -- replaced Hagel (R) who retired
LeMieux (Fla.) -- replaced Martinez (R) who retired
Risch (Idaho) -- replaced Craig (R) who retired
Wicker (Miss.) -- replaced Lott (R) who retired
All 4 of these have shown that they know immediately what their predecessor Republicans never figured out: pro-amnesty is an absolute political loser position in their states.

They need some positive reinforcement to help them become leaders in the anti-amnesty efforts on Capitol Hill.

2 of the Democrats who voted FOR the amnesty in 2007 have been replaced by new Democrats who are facing contested elections next fall

Bennett (Colo.) -- replaced Salazar (D) who retired
Gillibrand (N.Y.) -- replaced Clinton (D) who retired
Bennett is considered one of the most vulnerable of incumbents, having just been appointed this year. Gillibrand's appointment this year was no less controversial.

Unfortunately for us, both Senators face likely Primary opposition. If they think they have to protect their radical left-wing, they may become aggressive pro-amnesty supporters even though such a position will hurt them in the November General elections.

Both Senators need to hear from all of our Democratic and Independent members to help them understand that opposing amnesty and standing up for unemployed Coloradans and New Yorkers is just as much a liberal position as a centrist and conservative one.

2 other Democrats who voted FOR the amnesty in 2007 are up for re-election next fall, behind in the polls and fighting for their political lives

Lincoln (Ark.)
Reid (Nev.)
Arkansas voters are overwhelmingly opposed to an amnesty. Blanche Lincoln's fellow Democratic Senator in Arkansas, Mark Pryor, has stuck with Arkansas voters on this issue while Lincoln has curried favor with Senate Democratic leadership and voted consistently for illegal aliens and greedy cheap-labor business lobbyists. If Arkansas constituents can't help Lincoln change her position, they either aren't trying or Lincoln has a political suicide wish.

Harry Reid, the Senate Majority Leader, is a different case. While he is in deep political danger, his commitment to foreign labor is so personal and stubborn that I can't imagine him ever voting against an amnesty. But I can imagine him deciding not to bring the amnesty to the floor for a vote in 2010.

The activist members of NumbersUSA -- along with many other Americans -- slapped Reid with one of the biggest embarrassments of his life in June of 2007 when Reid came up 14 votes short of passing his amnesty.

Many accounts suggest that he thought he was going to win that vote just two days earlier and still had hopes on the day of the vote. His clumsy vote counting was a humiliating experience for him and may account partly for why he is so emotional in promising to move the amnesty in this Congress. But if in back-room counting he can't come up with at least 55 of the 60 votes needed to pass an amnesty, I don't think he'll call a vote and humiliate himself again over this issue.

In the meantime, Nevada voters (particularly Democrats and Independents) need to help Reid understand that his pro-amnesty stance is an anchor pulling him down in the polls.

But with a concerted and steady public engagement with these 38 Senators, I don't see how we can fail. Then, the math works in our favor.

Re: Senators In The AMNESTY BUBBLE Who Need Special Attention
Amnesty is NOT the "CURE" for what is ailing a LOT of the cities in this "USA"!

We are ALREADY "over-run" with people who are coming to OUR country because they cannot get from their previous places of residence what OUR government is "WILLING" to give them IF they can get into OUR Nation!

Many, if NOT MOST, are NOT educated, and as a result, fall into the catagory of "NEED" in the way of FOOD, CLOTHING, MEDICAL TREATMENT, AND SCHOOLS FOR THEIR CHILDREN! (If they ACTUALLY see that their children DO go to school, AND "IF" in school ACTUALLY "LEARN"!

Many of them have more CHILDREN than they could EVER expect to support, BUT, they have NO problem LETTING OUR GOVERNMENT SEE THAT THESE CHILDREN ARE "SUPPORTED" and this takes place at the COST of the NATURAL CITIZENS of this country!

STOP THEM AT THE BORDER! NO AMNESTY FOR "ANY" of them. I was raised in the USA and TAUGHT to "PAY MY WAY"! Are they viewed as BETTER than me and MY CHILDREN?

I "THINK" not. Get them, their "sucking" up our economy, and the CRIME they bring with them OUT!

NO MORE "freebies" in the "USA"!!!!!

Re: Re: Senators In The AMNESTY BUBBLE Who Need Special Attentio
Regardless of party the people in Washington no longer listen to the people. It is time we took our government back. We must go to the polls and vote anyone in office out and start over. Those not up for reelection that do not listen to the people must be called upon to resign or we must call for impeachment. No one but us can change the way things are done in Washington. We must keep up the tea parties and e-mails so the people do not forget.

The people who are in our country are living better than you and I. While we pay for eveything we get, they get everything free so they are left with much more to spend than you and I. Again, only we can put a stop to this. We must stand united in demanding their deportation. They insult our intelligence by trying to make us believe that it would cost too much to deport them. It can't possibly cost as much as letting them stay here and bringing all their relatives over here and receive everything that they do free that is paid for by our tax dollars.

IT IS UP TO US. LET'S TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK.

Forget Graham of S.C. He is firmly tied to the Senator from Sonora state (oops, it is still nominally Arizona, ain't it?)
Pardon the slip, I find myself more and more confused as to which states some of these clowns represent in the Senate.

Fortunately, we in South Carolina still have one Senator - unlike several states one could name.

Re: Senators In The AMNESTY BUBBLE Who Need Special Attention
Yes, sadly this one will take much more than just faxing and calling our "representatives" who could care less about constituents' desires. Many Americans are passively ignorant of even the bills that will directly affect them, and this one will affect us all like none before. Passage of this bill would change life as we know it... forever. Latinos have already stealthily deeply embedded themselves in our government at all levels, and the vast majority of them would never vote against any form of amnesty for their own countrymen. Because of their high reproduction rate and because our government hands out chained citizenship to all their alleged relatives, their anchor babies, and anyone who slithers across the border, their numbers will increase exponentially until they've overwhelmed us and they're in control. Our "representatives"? They'll be fine in their houses on the hill in their gated communities with their private planes and guaranteed comfy retirements, and LOTS more votes from illegals-turned-citizens. They'll never have to deal with the fallout of their backstabbing, traitorous votes against true Americans.

Re: Senators In The AMNESTY BUBBLE Who Need Special Attention
Please don't think this is a Democrat or Republican issue. If you recall, Bush was pushing amnesty...

Business wants amnesty, because too many workers means lower pay. It seems that in this country what business wants, business gets. Tell your Senators and Representatives that you don't want amnesty - that's the only way they will know that you really don't want amnesty for illegal aliens.

Re: Re: Senators In The AMNESTY BUBBLE Who Need Special Attentio
You are so right. It was when the Republicans were in control of the White House and Senate that the Senate passed the McCain/Kennedy amnesty in 2006. Fortunately, the grassroots persuaded the House Republicans not to bring it up, so it died.

Then when the Democrats took control of the Senate in 2007 and tried to pass it again, most Republicans decided to object.

We seem to get the best behavior out of the Republican leadership when the Democrats are in control.

The fact is that whichever Party anybody may be, they have their hands full trying to get some responsible action out of the Party. It takes all of us of all ideological and political persuasions to get a decent shake for the American people.

Re: Senators In The AMNESTY BUBBLE Who Need Special Attention
I'm a pessimist by nature so I think the fight is useless. These Democrats want/need a viable voting base and illegals are where it is at. There are millions of these votes just waiting for the Democrats to pass amnesty and do nothing about the flood coming over our borders. The unions, who back the Democrats 199%, want/need these illegals to become legal to get the dues bucks from the salaries of all Latinos made legal! These Senators DO NOT care what the American people want or need, they will vote what is best for themselves and that is to enlarge the Democrat voting base by legalizing millions of illegals. The blind leading the blind.

I will continue to do my part and call my senators/representative every day but my words fall on deaf ears as far as amnesty/immigration reform goes, as what happened with my many many many calls to NOT pass that stinking health care bill.

America is disappearing at a fast rate. Give it the 4 years of the Obama/Democrat regime and we are done. God Bless America.

Over the last year I've posted a few 1-page flyers (about 10) on gas station, laundry, and grocery post boards in Rochester, and S.E. Minnesota. The businesses take them down almost immediately after seeing them. One was replaced in "Stewartville, MN by a Lutheran Church Congregation complaining about the lack of help America gives to current immigrants, it asked for donations to give them more help. In Rochester, MN the businesses are all scared to death that an employee might offend a mexican customer (about 30%+ of their business now). Us employees don't dare to even say the word mexican or somolian at work.... let alone discuss anything related. It's that way all over America. Even in Public the fear is there!

Can we not emphasize to them that a great many of the calls to their offices in favor of amnesty are coming from people who are not even their LEGAL CONSTITUENCY? Since when did our internal affairs become the domain of foreign citizens? Yet these people plague our own lawmakers with their pesky lobbying. I think our communication with the US Congress needs to make that clear: The amount of foreign lobbying, under the guise of true constituency (only citizens and LPR's are, in any way, "constituents") is alarming and is setting a very bad precedent. Once it starts all of our policies could start coming under the influence of foreign societies.

Re: Senators In The AMNESTY BUBBLE Who Need Special Attention
We all need to fight like hell to make sure this travesty does not happen, but also need to remember that this is only one battle in the war.

We have 15 million illegals who are costing us scarce tax money for their health care, education of their jackpot children, and the various public services that they quite frankly are stealing from American citizens.

We will be presented with the false notion that if there is no amnesty there will be no enforcement of our laws with regard to protecting our borders and rounding up and deporting illegals. We already have the laws on the books. We just need to let the President, legislators and Homeland Security know that it their responsibility to enforce these laws NOW.

And finally, we need to start working on a path to correcting the false interpretation of the 14th amendment. We can no longer afford to allow illegal aliens to have their children here and call them American Citizens.

Defeating the 2010 Amnesty and Illegal Alien Reward Act of 2010 is just the first step.

We here in AZ (I am in
We here in AZ (I am in Maricopa County) have really been working on getting Conservatives in the Precinct Committee people slots so that we have the power to pick Conservative candidates. Our primary target is John McCain. He very definitely needs to be gone. The Tea Parties and the Patriots Network here in AZ is very concerned about illegal immigration. I think Mr McCain realizes the constituents are rumbling, so he is trying to look more and more like a Conservative Republican. (a Rassmussen poll a couple of months ago showed that 61% of Arizonans feel he is out of step with the people in AZ.

There has been a groundswell of support for what we are doing. From all that I am hearing, Jon Kyl would be the other focus if his seat was up. We are a very dedicated group and although I am very discouraged about what is happening with health care, I have always been positive about what NumbersUSA does to help us out. You are very much appreciated and I will do whatever needs to be done to help out.

This is our country we are talking about here. WE have to be as involved as we can with what is going on in order to be able to leave something similar to what we have had to our children.

Thanx again for what you do!

Re: Senators In The AMNESTY BUBBLE Who Need Special Attention
Although usually positive, I am not anymore on preventing this. Health care bill is not popular either (not just because illegal aliens will benefit), yet that looks like now it will pass..

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/current_events/h...

It's time like these - where one party rules both houses AND the White House - that people have to realize we need to dismantle this party duopoly. Republicans would "ram" through any legislation they could, too, if they were in the same position. These 2 parties are systematically ruining the U.S.

My thoughts at this point? I don't think the Democrats are going to care one way or the other about the elections in 2010. Why? Because once they can amnesty 12-20 million IAs, even if they lose their majority position in one/both houses in 2010, they will most surely gain them back once IAs become citizens.

IMO - I do not think it matters anymore how much you contact these knuckleheads in office. They are going to do what they OR their party wants them to do. This country is going to continue it's downward spiral, and only if/when these idiots in office see and feel the impact of an amnesty (they may never since they will never live in middle-class America neighborhoods) only then might they have ANY regret over what they have allowed to occur.

The only way to change things at this point, is with a massive uprising of the people. And, unfortunately, I doubt you will ever get that level of support since most people are too engrossed in their own lives to care about what is truly going on around them - in our government, in the country OR the world, for that matter. TVs - computers - video games - electronic gadgets - celebrities' lives -these distractions (unfortunately) consume the lives of many people.

Right now, Republicans can voice their disgust on TV to their consituents and that is it. They know their hands are "tied" and cannot stop the train wrecks being enacted. This is true of the health care bill and will probably be true of an amnesty as well.

Hope and change? If you voted for it (him), hope it is what you, and more importantly your descendents - can live with it.

I agree with you completely, both of these parties are systematically ruining the U.S. I wish we could get rid of both and start over, with decent politicians, who CARE about the people, not themselves or their party.

When I was young and just starting to vote, I would always say, I vote for the man, not the party. As the years went on, I realized, they have to adhere to their party or they are booted out. So,it seemed that I leaned on the Republican party, but now I tend to call myself a Libertarian, which as we saw in the Clinton election, tends to divide the Republicans. So what are we to do? I do believe most of our earlier Politicians would/are rolling over in the grave over what has become of the America they knew.

A BHO supporter I was speaking to the other day made reference to Thomas Jefferson not thinking this "experiment" of the USA would fail in 50 years. But I wonder, even after 200 years, how much longer we will last with what has been happening in the last few years. Islam, is one of my biggest concerns, they mean to destroy us and the more we appease them the more they want. Their goal is to Islamitize America, and we sit back, and are allowing it, through intimidation. The brain washing we are getting, without realizing it, is that we finally become sympathetic to them and join them in their goal. Even now our Military Generals (Casey at FT Hood) are praising the Diversity of the Military and how important it is to have it. The warning signs are there but our lawmakers & enforcers are not doing anything but fueling it to continue. They are our enemies, but we keep allowing more and more of them into the US, even BHO himself (during his campaigning and in his biography) supports Islam and what it stands for. Our Commander, even bowing down in meeting their leaders showing, in my opinion, subservience.

This is all about controlling the people. When the people have no money and have to depend on the government, you have their attention, because they can't do anything without money. The government will control you then.

I too have left Republican and name Libertarian as my party though I donot agree with all the Libertarian ideals. Anti-amnesty is my biggest concern as I worked and lived among the illegals. They are laughing at the USA because of all the freebies. Their erasoning is if the US is dumb enough to give it tous we are smart enough to take it and we are bringing in as many of our relatives as we can. Our biggest threat is the muslims. They are here recruiting our young men as fast as they can and not the ones with talent but the ones with hate and want to do in the USA. That's why the Gitmo guys are such a threat to us here at home, They can recruit and spout in the prisons their hatred and fire up our malcontents who will then revolt and pass on this hatred and violence. Watch it happen! I see it everyday int he prisons and in the college.

You wrote very well and described exactly what I have been saying for years. Most Americans don't give a damn. So long as they have sports, beer, Lindsay Lohan, Oprah, "American Idol", video games, "Dancing With the Stars" - they couldn't care less about the amnesty bill. Or any of the other downward spirals this country is in.

Why aren't more Americans who love this country not speaking out? This wonderful country has fallen into the hands of Socialists or Fascists
who care not whether it is our downfall or not. Spending has spiraled out of control and they have no interest in Americans, including Legal immigrants. Their allegiance is towards ILLEGALS. We are a military family and I resent one dime going to ILLEGALS when we have our own hurting due to our economy and our men & women sacrificing in wars while the rest of you spend, spend, spend bailing out Corporations that give themselves bonuses with our money. Let Illegals go back to their own country and make it better. Yes, it is a train wreck and at this point in my life it is sad to see my wonderful country being consumed by our so-called leaders. They are milking it for whatever their greedy needs are and they are many, at our cost. Those of you who voted for those in power now got your CHANGE, but not what you expected. Am I right?? If there is a chance to turn things around, give it a shot NOW.

Re: Re: Senators In The AMNESTY BUBBLE Who Need Special Attentio
I really do empathize with your frustration.

But I am far more optimistic. For one thing, the Senators for the most part won't be taking votes that benefit their party but which matter to their own personal political survival. They are much more self-centered, I think, than you suggest.

For 6 months before the June 2007 vote, we were told that the amnesty's passage was inevitable. The prospects, if anything, were even more dismal than. But we won. And I think we will win again -- if we don't give up.

Next week, I will be sending everybody my year-end report. I hope that all of you are heartened by just how much you have accomplished this year. It is much more impressive than you might at first imagine.

I will certainly take advantage of these lists you have given us, and call the bubble senators to urge them to vote against amnesty. I have often phoned legislators outside of my state, particularly when I thought they were vulnerable to pressure. I, a lifelong Democrat, am so mad at my senators (Kennedy and Kerry) that I did not vote for them last time around, and I suspect I will be voting for the Republican candidate in the upcoming special election. I don't particularly like him, but I don't want to provide support for Martha Coakley, who is a "path to citizenship" Democrat.

I certainly appreciate how easy Numbers makes it for me to channel my anger into action. I have also had a fair numbers of letters in the NYT and the Boston Globe, and even in the Wash. Post, including one in one of these papers, sent in by a 9-11 orphan, that I wrote for her.

Senator Bennet of Coloado is assinged an immigration voting grade of F MINUS (yes, you read correctly) and Udall of Colorado of Colorado has a grade of D PLUS. I can't see either of these anti-sovereignty people changing their mind. I am ashamed to admit it, but that is probably fact.

to ralph7980 in Co. We in California know how you feel. Two Democratic Senators and neither listens or hears us. i has seven replies to letters sent to washington. do you think one would answer a statement or question? No, its farmed out to an aid to repluy with one of the form letters. basic questions nevr answered. If they won't listen or read the mail how can they even vote properely? I'll continue and try but im sick inside, seeing this wonderful nation turn.
